RIPL (Reference & Instruction Community of Interest)

October 27, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Topic: Go-to Research Tools (Show & Tell)

Zoom Link can be found in the PALS Support Center Answer for RIPL (sign in required).

We will look at several subject areas and have everyone share their own “Best Bets” list; in other words, what they consider to be the best databases and other resources, both free and paid, to which they direct researchers at their institution for various subjects.  Because many of us provide research support to multiple academic disciplines with which we have very little experience, it can be valuable to hear what people with a bit more experience in a given subject area recommend to researchers they support.

There will be no readings for this session.  Just come prepared to discuss your go-to recommendations for any of the following subject areas:

  • Freshman Composition/College Writing
  • Health Sciences
  • Video Resources
  • Business
  • Humanities
  • Sciences
  • Social Sciences
  • Education
  • Other?

As usual, we will begin with an open forum, but most of the hour will be spent on our main discussion topic for the month.
